The game is designed for you to unlock everything at level 80. You do not need to save hero points. If you want to unlock your elite spec, you need to fully unlock your base spec first. HoT:Verdant Brink - 110 hp total - 1 veteran (easy soloable), 7 communes = 80 hp solo. Auric Basin - 110 hp total - bacon hero point + 2 commune, if you go into the hole after AB octovine meta you can pretty much always get the champion fight against the exlated there too. additionally, the golem hero point here only spawns champions for hp trains- if you go alone, it's 3 veteran golems which

There are 202 hero challenges right now, and there will be more in the new Heart of Thorns zones. It will only take 60 points to unlock the traits for the elite specialization, and assuming it gives 1 healing / 3 utility / 1 elite skill of the new skill type, it will take 2 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 9 = 22 points to unlock the skills.
Select crafting professions and level them up. Get some cool looking armor and dyes for your character. Select a legendary weapon you like and you can start working towards that SLOWLY. (This is a really slow process or can be fast and expensive :D ) If you like fractals you can do them.
Each elite specialization requires 250 hero points to fully unlock it, with each hero challenge in expansion maps providing 10 of those points. Gear and builds. One of the first goals of a level 80 character should be to get a full set of gear of the desired attribute combination, together with runes and sigils.
This happened to me more than once last night. It even happened after leveling and I received a message saying I earned more hero points after I leveled. But it was still stuck at 3 points…. The bottom line is it seems to be bugged for me and I’m not getting the hero points after I earned them…
I think it would be even more of a problem for someone to boost their first character to 80, buy hero points to unlock elite specs, buy gems to convert to gold to get equipment (either directly from the TP or via things like buying materials to level crafting to make ascended), buy the waypoint unlocks and whatever other upgrades and cosmetics
When you hit 80, if you don't have HoT or masteries, the exp doesn't go towards anything (same as if you have HoT but have masteries for that region maxed already). Then I guess I need to buy HoT so the experience would count towards something towards character impovement once I reach level 80. Thanks guys for the info.
If it's the same as the other classes, you get 398 hero point for leveling. That's ~80 point to max a normal trait line + skills, assuming they are all bundled together and equal weight. (They probably aren't since Invocation doesn't have a legend tied to it). You could easily max 2-3 you like and have points left to start on Herald.
So you only need to go on a Heart Of Thorns or Path of Fire run and be done in an hour or two for one of the specs. Technically every class will end up with the short end of the stick if they are equipping the Elite Spec before it is ready to have traits totally completed. DigitalNinjaX • 3 yr. ago. I get that.
Hero points are basically the skills points of the past. You have 198? Hero points in core tyria and loads more in HoT areas. You also get enough from leveling to 80 to get all the skills and traits unlocked for your core specialization. If you want to unlock your elite specialization, you need to do hero point challenges in the game. Hero Points might be a soft example, but they are still very much P2W, same as the waypoint unlocker. I was hoping the WP unlocker would be the last of its type, but clearly that's not the case. I fear that they are trying to slowly boil the frog, starting with softball stuff like this and then ramping it up. NNrL.
